Getting the right design
Book design is an art in itself and requires a special type of knowledge and experience.
The hard commercial reality is that book buyers often do judge a book initially by its cover, and it is essential that this is designed to attract and that its appeal is relevant to the particular market the book is aimed at. Authors themselves often have the best instinctive feeling about what is right for their particular market and we will always listen carefully to what they have to say.
The interior of a book also requires a lot of attention. Most readers will not be able to enunciate the principles of book design or typography, but they will certainly know when something is wrong. A good book establishes a bond of trust between the reader and the author, a trust that can easily be broken by awkward or incorrect presentation as it can be by poor writing.
Because we are committed to achieving the highest possible standards, we can guarantee our authors that our approach to each book we publish will be thorough and painstaking.
