The editing process

Because we are committed to high standards, we do a rigorous technical editing of each manuscript for consistency of spelling, punctuation, capitalisation, style, etc., in line with our house rules.

In cases where we feel the subject of the book has merit but the manuscript requires more substantive editing, we will also provide this – not in any dictatorial fashion, but in close collaboration with the author.

We employ the sevices of two expert editors:

  • Perry O’Donovan is the series editor for Inspire Classic Books. His writing has appeared in The Southern Star, the Irish Examiner, and The Irish Times. His essays on walking across Spain to Santiago de Compostela have been collected in Santiago, Here I Come (2008). Love from Cork, his book on Cork picture postcards, is also published by Inspire Books (2011).
  • Maurice Sweeney is an experienced journalist and editor. He has held key editorial positions in Irish newspapers, including The Irish Times, the Sunday Business Post and the Sunday Tribune. He also lectures in journalism at Griffith College Cork.
