Colin Campbell
Retired petroleum geologist and executive
After taking a degree and a PhD at Oxford, he joined the oil industry as a field geologist, working in Trinidad, Colombia, and Papua before moving into a more executive role in New York, Chicago, Ecuador, London, Dublin, and Norway, working for both major and independent companies. His early work led him to appreciate the nature of depletion, which became a major interest in retirement, when he wrote six books and made many presentations, helping found the Association for the Study of Peak Oil and Gas (ASPO).
There is a risk of a vicious circle of rising oil and food prices, deepening recession, more violence, and consequential interruptions in supply. It is therefore doubly important that people everywhere should come to understand the underlying causes in terms of the depletion of a finite resource
